Spiritual Food for the Soul

How to eat healthy vegetarian meals - meta physiology of tasty food

Since a child I have always noticed that any type of food, even sandwiches made by other people always taste significantly better than anything you could possibly put together for yourself. Food that is made with love always tastes better than just something which is carelessly thrown together.

Another example of this is food that has been blessed. In India the priests offer food to God or a specific deity (energy of God) and it becomes blessed. The food is then shared with others like the poor and needy. This type of food is called, Prasad. That food ALWAYS tastes absolutely delicious. Food that has been blessed always tastes significantly better!

If you are sensitive to meta physical energy, in a restaurant you can even tell what type of mood the chef is in by tasting the food. When food is being prepared, your hands are touching the food so you a literally charging the food with your energy. So if food is made with powerful loving spiritual hands then it always tastes delicious and the food not only satisfies the recipients hunger but also helps fill their heart and soul with divine love and bliss.

When I was in India one time waiting in Mumbai airport I was meditating. In India there is a beautiful warm energy in various places, as many divine saints have walked the land. The land has very strong Earth vibrations. As I was enjoying the warm energy and warm loving climate I was mediating and there was a lady in her 60's sitting next to me with her husband.

This was when I had a past life memory of eating food. Out of all the past life memories you can possibly have, I had a past life memory of eating food! Food that was bliss for my heart and soul! Warm spicy food that filled my entire being with warmth, love and bliss. A Love that was SO loving that it was not like anything I have ever felt in this lifetime. A love so nurturing, so fully absorbed by me, so satisfying and making happy. A family so Loving. A life so natural, simple and sweet. This Lady was my Mother in a previous lifetime, maybe hundreds or thousands of years ago. She knew this as well and made a connection with me. Her food was so delicious. I was a little kid in a lifetime as significant as a single day in a year. But the feeling and memory was so beautiful and loving. Nothing was said between us, although we made eye contact. The greatest words are often spoken in silence. This is just an example of how food and Love are related.

I used to enjoy a lot of time cooking for myself and others and I even worked in a restaurant. If I did not decide to become vegetarian then I may have become a chef. I tend to enjoy cooking in a quality and professional way.

However I have found that just cooking for myself as a single person brings NO enjoyment and satisfaction at all. As a result I have been making the mistake of not bothering to cook at all.

If you are a single person who works and travels a lot everyday, the last thing you want to do when you get home is spend a lot of time cooking big meals- just for yourself. I tend to just want to knock something up quickly in 8 -10 minutes. An example of this would be pasta in sauce, cheese and onion pasties or cereal.

However this does NOT give you all the vitamins and nutrition needed from eating a wide range of different colored vegetables and fruit, and it is recommended to eat at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day. After catching a serious cold with flue like symptoms I felt really run down and decided that I would have to do something about my diet.

Cooking for others brings a lot of love, satisfaction and fulfilment. It is the same as having a useful job. Cooking for others is equal to loving others. If people enjoy your food then it makes cooking worth it. And there is nothing better than doing something that is worth it. If people enjoy your food then they enjoy and accept your Love. Easy if you have a family, but if you are a single person...

If you put your time, effort and work into cooking, then your food becomes irresistible and tastes amazing. The activity of cooking, and the smell of your food will entice people to want to try and have some. Food is to be shared. Cooking for your family or friends is the same as sharing Love. When people really enjoy your food it means they are really enjoying and absorbing your Love. And that is what work and any type of efforts should be about.

I have found that cooking healthy vegetarian food is EASY and fulfilling, especially when others enjoy and accept your food - If you take the time to do it properly. For instance I cooked a vegetarian lasagna for the first time in my life the other day. It is a case of being adventurous and creative when it comes to food. Although I made a few mistake it tasted delicious. I filed it with a wide range of different vegetables like peppers, egg plant/aubergine, courgettes, broccoli, spinage, carrots, onion in a tomato and garlic sauce with lots of layers of cheese like mozzarella and ricotta. Other options are vegetarian ratatouille, curry or even make your own pizza, or buy the pizza base and top it with a wide range of different vegetables. It is just a case of taking the time and putting the effort into eating healthy and properly.

Especially in Western countries where food is readily available, there is no excuse for being stingy when it comes to food. There is no excuse to hide food, keep it separate from other people, or eating food around others without offering anything- and generally being uptight about sharing food with others. Or inviting people round to your house and not offering them anything to eat. Or refusing to accept food from other people even though you would like some etc. If you fail to share food then you may come back as a hen in your next lifetime or be born into the most deprived and hungry areas of India to learn the importance of sharing food. Giving and sharing food brings more satisfaction and spiritual progress as in the idea of Karma Yoga - sharing of food :)
